Shin Splints & How to Avoid Them.

Updated: Feb 10, 2019

Shin splints are usually a result of over-training. Classic symptoms are pain down the front of the shin or on either side of the shin.

You can ice, try taping or use calf socks, but if the niggles persist, don’t wait, see a physio now. It could be the difference between you running the marathon you’ve trained so hard for, or not. A common mistake when buying calf socks is to buy online. I would strongly recommend against this. Buy from a well known retailer, who will help you with fitting. Even better book in to see one of our Physiotherapists who can guide you on how to manage the cause of the shin splints.
